Chandigarh, 31st August 2024:(Punjabi Teshan) The World Punjabi Heritage Foundation, in collaboration with various cultural organizations in Punjab and active institutions abroad, is organizing a special mega award ceremony, ‘Virsa De Waris,’ in November at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. During this event, senior artists will be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards, and financial assistance will be provided to artists facing financial difficulties under challenging circumstances.
At a press conference held at the Chandigarh Press Club on Saturday, famous Punjabi folk singer Sukhwinder Kaur Brar, also known as Sukhi Brar (Director of the World Punjabi Heritage Center), folk singer Pammi Bai, Hardeep Bai from the Film Association Punjab, and Malkeet Rauni officially announced this prestigious award.
They highlighted that our vibrant Punjab, known as the land of five rivers, is currently submerged in issues such as migration, drug addiction, barren land, underground water scarcity, and debt. To rescue any society or state from such crises, it is essential to revive its culture, folk traditions, and heritage. The World Punjabi Heritage Foundation is taking on the responsibility of restoring Punjab to its former glory and prosperity through this effort.
Folk singer Sukhwinder Kaur Brar appealed to the global Punjabi community to support this initiative to preserve their heritage, so that we can once again make the land of five rivers a prosperous region.
