Acclaimed film director J. P. Dutta is all in readiness to add another war-based movie to his repertoire of movies. Titled ‘Paltan’, his latest release is all set to be up for grabs on this Friday, i.e., September 7. What is likely to entice a plethora of audience into the cinema halls is the fact that Paltan is Dutta’s first movie in the last 12 years. An entr’acte as long as this one would have made biding time difficult for his fans.
Having made remarkable movies like ‘Border’ (based on the Battle of Longewala – 1971) and ‘LOC Kargil’ (based on the war of 1999) in the past, Dutta would be looking forward to Paltan standing tall on those similar lines of outright success.
Paltan is based on the India-China war of 1967, also known as the Nathu La clashes. Many people are aware about the fact that India lost to China in 1962, but very less know that India gave back in style to China in 1967 on the border of the Himalayan kingdom of Sikkim. The movie will cover this undivulged story which is highly likely to portray the valiant efforts of the Indian Army (against the Chinese soldiers) on the sliver screen.
Also known for the ensemble cast in his movies, Paltan stars Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane, Siddhant Kapoor, Luv Sinha, Esha Gupta, Sonal Chauhan, Deepika Kakar and Monica Gill in vital roles. The presence of such a diverse cast is a testimony to the fact that the movie will offer differing characters which are in likeliness of contributing to the overall end product.
Talking specifically, respective dialogues from Shroff and Rampal (in the trailer) clearly signifies as to what one can expect in the movie. Another aspect of film-making which throws a high probability of leaving the people lost for words is the visuals of the movie. Given Dutta’s acquaintance with this genre, expect nothing but praiseworthy war sequences in it.
With its lyrics penned down by Javed Akhtar, Paltan is musically directed by Anu Malik, the third time that the trio of Dutta, Malik and Akhtar has worked together. The title song of the movie has been banging its drum in the best possible manner.
Apart from directing the movie, Dutta has also written its script and produced it under his banner JP Films along with Zee Studios. Paltan hits the screens worldwide on September 7, 2018.
